A journey to become the best at what you do, inevitably begins with mentors. Fortunately for me, I’ve had the opportunity to work with the best in the world when it comes to lingual (hidden) braces. My journey toward specializing in lingual orthodontic treatment began in 2004 with course work on the Incognito Lingual Bracket System. I realized that to become the very best at this groundbreaking technique I would need to travel abroad to study with the best in the world. Conferences for the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics and the World Society of Lingual Orthodontics (held in places like Paris and London) helped expose me to the best techniques, the most innovative appliances and the innovative thought leaders in the field.
Visiting the distinguished lingual orthodontic practices of Dr. Didier Fillion (Paris and London), Dr. Giusseppe Scuzzo (Rome), Dr. Kyoto Takemoto (Tokyo) and Dr. Asif Chatoo (London), opened my eyes to an entirely different world of elite-level patient care using the lingual technique.
Being invited in 2011 to participate with these industry leading orthodontists on a select development team for the next-generation lingual brace system, the Alias System was both an honor and a privilege. I was no longer just learning from the best, I was working in partnership with the very best in the industry. Our work developed the system that is now in use worldwide.
This ongoing journey continues to intertwine both my personal life and my professional education with these giants in the world of lingual orthodontics. I’ve been granted both a front row view of how to achieve this elite level as a lingual orthodontist and formed strong friendships over the years with many of these providers as well. In my case, the people you meet on the journey make it all that much better for me, my practice and most importantly, my patients.
Dr. Ken Danyluk, or Dr. D as he is affectionately known, practiced as a general dentist for over 7 years before pursuing his specialty training in orthodontics. With the combination of general dentistry experience and specialty certification, he is able to provide his patients with unmatched comprehensive care.
It is important to remember that not all orthodontists offer lingual braces due to the considerable amount of training and technical expertise that is necessary to complete successful cases. Dr. Danyluk not only specializes in lingual braces; he also currently runs the largest lingual practice in all of North America. He also worked with top orthodontists from all over the world as a member of the Alias Lingual Bracket Development Team.
